Included is correspondence, receipts, and statements of account for the expenses of the students at the Choctaw Academy. Correspondence consists chiefly of letters from Colonel Richard M. Johnson, sponsor of the academy, concerning its administration under the auspices of the Baptist Board of Missions and the U.S. Government. Other correspondents include William Clark, C.A. Harris, Andrew Jackson, Benjamin Reynolds (agent of the Chickasaw Nation), John Tipton, and William Ward (agent of the Choctaw Nation).
